B Wild Musings
A love letter to January and new beginnings…
Welcome Wild Ones,
January for so many is long and dreary. For me it is a calm but exciting new beginning. January is still and reflective. I love January for contemplating the year before. I also love the excitement of imagining the year ahead.
Take a look around. You will see shut windows and doors, fewer people moving from place to place, the branches of the trees look weary - seemingly not enough life in them to reach for the sun. The grass and flowers lay dormant. Everything has turned itself inward. We curl into ourselves from the cold. Trees bring their life inside drawing their energy inward into their roots and cells, away from their bark and branches.
If you are lucky, a snow will fall. Snow brings fresh new life to a dreary gray landscape. I love the luminosity and magic of a January snowfall and all the memories of being a child in the North country that it evokes. How walking home through soft snow covered paths during a snowfall, the world seemed to be cocooned in a petal pink hue. How the snowfall makes everything more still and silent. How each snowflake was this beautiful masterpiece that you could hold in your hand admiring for a few beautiful moments until it melted into water drops on your skin. A little piece of original art all your own gifted from the heavens.
As we are midway through January and as I begin this newsletter, I want to offer you a mini reflection prompt to turn your attention to the still beginnings of this month. Take this prompt, make time for reflection and turn inward. Writers, painters, photographers, journaling gurus - what ever creative pursuit feeds your soul - take a moment to create, write, paint or photograph the following prompts. Choose one or spend time with each.
“A Still Winter Day”
“New Beginnings”
“A Winters Walk”
“Stillness of Snow”
As you may know, painting is my poetry. This January, you can find me in my Studio @bwildstudios painting a bit of “A Still Winter Day” inspired by a wintery European landscape. I hope to see you there.
Love,
Bambi
